Heat staking is a process used to permanently embed metal components into plastic assemblies by heating and pressing threaded metal inserts (e.g., brass or steel ferrules) into thermoplastic parts. The working principle is as follows:
Positioning: The metal insert is precisely aligned above the corresponding hole in the plastic substrate.
Heating: The insert is heated to a predetermined temperature.
Pressing: The heated insert is quickly pressed into the plastic, causing the surrounding material to melt and flow into the knurled grooves of the insert.
Solidification: As the plastic cools, the metal insert becomes securely encapsulated, forming a high-strength bond.
Advantages of Heat Staking Machines:
Designed specifically for metal-to-plastic assembly, ensuring permanent bonding of threaded inserts (ferrules) with plastic components.
Ideal for precision parts requiring vibration resistance and anti-loosening, such as electronic housings and automotive plastic parts.
